Are You Training, But Not Progressing?

laura and nerida 1

You’ve been in the gym. You’ve followed programs off Instagram. You’ve worked with a PT.

But something’s off:

  • You plateau. Or you keep getting niggles that turn into injuries.
  • Your “strength program” doesn’t translate to your sport.
  • Your conditioning runs out two rounds in. Or three sets in.
  • You came back from an old injury, but you don’t trust the joint anymore.
  • You’re working hard, but you’re not getting better.

The problem isn’t effort. It’s structure.

Training for a sport is different to a regular session at the gym. You need a structured program that improves performance, reduces injury risk, and targets the specific physical demands of your sport.

Performance Training

Performance Isn’t About Training Harder.
It’s About Training Correctly.

Our rehab team brings together Accredited Exercise Physiologists (with Physiotherapy services coming soon) under one roof —
so your program is designed by clinicians who specialise in restoring strength, function, and capacity.

Clinical performance training is different from generic personal training in three ways:

  • It starts with assessment. We do a movement screen and look at things like: Strength baseline, asymmetries, old injuries, your sport’s actual demands.
  • It uses periodisation. Loading and recovery cycles built around your training calendar, fight camp, season, or competition date.
  • It accounts for injury history. We build around old injuries — not pretend they don’t exist.

That’s why our athletes get stronger, faster, and more durable — without breaking down on the way.
We treat the root cause, not just the symptoms.

The Chronic Gains Method

3 Simple Steps Built For Athletes

Most clinics treat symptoms. We rebuild how your body actually works.
Our structured 3-step training system is designed to create long-term results.

1

Assess Movement Patterns

Movement screen. Strength testing. Sport-specific demands analysis. Injury history mapping. We identify what’s limiting your performance — including the things you don’t feel yet.

2

Rebuild Movement & Function

Targeted strength, mobility, and movement quality work. We close the gaps before we add intensity. Built around your training schedule and competition calendar.

3

Structured Rehab & Performance Plan

Sport-specific conditioning, focusing on power, speed, agility, and capacity work. Structured so that you peak when it matters and when you need it — not in week three.

Returning From Injury

Coming Back From An Injury?
You Need More Than Rehab

The gap between “cleared by your physio” and “back to your sport at full intensity”
is where most re-injuries happen.

Our return-to-sport pathway closes that gap:

  • Strength and capacity rebuild around the affected joint and the chain above and below it.
  • Sport-specific load progression (running, cutting, jumping, striking, contact).
  • Confidence rebuild — because trust in the joint matters as much as the joint itself.

Common return-to-sport programs:

  • ACL / MCL / LCL injury or reconstruction return to sport
  • Post-knee surgery rehabilitation
  • Shoulder injury return to sport
  • Tennis elbow rehab
  • Post-surgical rehab

Need broader injury rehab first? See Injury Rehabilitation.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQS

A personal trainer focuses on general fitness. Our rehab team applies clinical principles — assessment, periodisation, injury history — to performance training. That matters most when you’re competing, recovering from injury, or training hard at a high level.

Our clinicians can manage injury, rehab, and performance under one roof — without bouncing between providers. Some athletes work exclusively with us; others work alongside an existing S&C coach where we provide the clinical layer.

Combat sports (boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, BJJ, MMA), team sports (oz tag, rugby league, AFL, soccer, touch football, basketball, netball), strength sports (powerlifting, Olympic lifting), endurance sports (running, triathlon, cycling), and most others. If your sport isn’t listed, ask us.

Yes. Most of our clients aren’t full-time athletes. They’re people who want to keep playing the sport they love without breaking down — or who want to actually improve, not just “stay fit.”

Absolutely. We regularly coordinate with boxing coaches, S&C coaches, strength coaches, and team trainers. Communication and collaboration are part of how we work.

Both — in the right order. Most athletes need a rehab phase before performance training. Our return-to-sport pathway bridges that gap. See Injury Rehabilitation.

Athletic performance is typically self-funded. If you’ve got a workplace, motor vehicle, or sports injury that brought you in, return-to-sport rehabilitation may be covered under Workers Comp, CTP, or private health — see Funding Schemes.

Most athletes notice changes in strength and movement quality within 4–6 weeks. Sport-specific performance gains build over a full periodised cycle (typically 12–16 weeks). Return-to-sport timelines depend on the injury.
